comparison blogging
I was inspired by Thwang’s Dork and the Ivy (yeah, i know, that was august, but I’m bored and at work and reading all of my friends’ internet presences)… so I’m gonna start comparison blogging myself and Neil Gaiman.
I anticipate that it will be less funny and more pathetic than dork and the ivy. But a good time for me nonetheless. ;) and, hopefully, it will make me want to do really cool writerly stuff so that i can be way way cooler than neil gaiman. which shouldn’t be hard, since I am a fresh young girlwomanladything and he is a crusty old middle-aged man…but unfortunately he is neil gaiman and i am just me.
I will begin with yesterday:
May 26, 2008
NG: neil gaiman blogged about how to become a book editor. Basically, you have to live in new york, and you have to be good at it. actually, gaiman did not write up this perspicacious advice, but instead handed the question over to somebody else. but you know what, if you can delegate tasks, you probably should.
AEM:munn woke up with a sense of deep ennui, put her hair in pigtails, ate lunch, and tried to get commencement tickets but couldn’t because it was memorial day. then she drank a large coffee, wandered about, and eventually ended up drinking margaritas and eating cheap jambalaya. it was tasty, but did little to combat the ennui. she may have had interesting conversation, but cannot remember if it was of any value. Then she watched a lot of streaming early-00s television on her laptop, and went to sleep.
RESULT: despite a relatively poor showing by gaiman (who didn’t even do his own blogging), he takes the game by virtue of having accomplished anything at all (the pigtails were cute, but not enough to tip the balance for munn). NG: 1, AEM: 0
